Neil the Seal is a local celebrity turned international celebrity thanks to TikTok. Neil is a large southern elephant seal that annually shows up in Hobart, a town in southern Tasmania and wreaks havoc.

Locals frequently share videos of their encounters with Neil on social media, and it seems like local authorities aren’t quite sure what to do about the animal’s escapades though town. Some say fame is starting to be a liability for Neil, and authorities are encouraging people to observe from a distance.
