A man who was hiking in northern California this past weekend is currently missing, and the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help locating him. Comments on the Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook post announcing the search suggest several people saw the man hitchhiking before he disappeared.

“The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a person reported missing in the area of Middletown Park Drive and the Swasey Park Trails of Western Shasta County,” the post reads. “35-year-old Gerrad Esnault was believed to be hiking in the area on the evening of Sunday, June 21, 2026, but has been unreachable since.”
Esnault is a white male with brown hair, and he was wearing a black baseball cap.
