Eric Kramers says he had “a ‘whale’ of a day” after colliding with a whale while windsurfing. Kramers was windsurfing off the coast of Crissy Field in San Francisco, California, when, suddenly, a whale surfaced right in front of him, and he had no time to stop before he ran straight into it.

“I had reduced my speed greatly [because] I had seen a couple whales in the area but on my last run back it just popped up right in front of me,” Kramers wrote in an Instagram post sharing footage of the collision. “Glad we are both ok.”
