Arizona’s Grand Canyon National Park is reopening the North Rim tomorrow, Friday, May 15, at 6 AM local time. The park typically keeps the North Rim closed during winter months, but the Dragon Bravo Fire in July 2025 has led to prolonged closures in certain areas.

“The wait is almost over,” Grand Canyon National Park wrote in a social-media post sharing the news. “Visitors should plan ahead and be prepared for a more remote, limited-services experience this year as the park continues recovery and restoration efforts. The 2026 season will focus primarily on day use and limited backcountry opportunities, with access to select scenic drives, viewpoints, and trails.”

Although potable water will not be available on the North Rim, there will be some available services, including the General Store and a fuel station (May 15- September 7). There is no date set for the reopening of the North Rim Campground.

The full North Kaibab Trail will also reopen tomorrow.
