A bald eagle affectionately named Jackie has laid the first egg of her second clutch this season, and this milestone follows a tragic setback. Jackie and her mate, Shadow, recently lost the two eggs in their first clutch to a raven. Jackie and Shadow are famous thanks to the nest cam that livestreams their every move to millions of fans around the world. The mated pair live in California’s Big Bear Valley.

“Jackie laid her 1st egg of the 2nd clutch today at 14:29:38 cam time!” wrote the Friends of Big Bear Valley Bald Eagle Cam in an Instagram post. “At 14:35:13 the egg is visible. Jackie did a great job and she is now resting.”
