While hiking in northern Colorado, elleeoutside says she turned a corner and saw a moose in a partially frozen lake. Two men were already in the ice-cold water, helping the moose by breaking apart the ice to make a path for the animal to swim to safety. She recorded a video of the Good Samaritans’ moose rescue and shared it on Instagram.

“actually one of the craziest things i’ve ever seen in my life,” wrote @eleeoutside in her post. “we . . . stumbled on this poor moose who presumably had gotten spooked and had fallen through thin ice trying to run across the lake and gotten stuck. thank god for the guys who got in the lake and broke the ice creating a channel for her to swim out. such an ordeal but so glad she got out.”
