For the first time in a decade, researchers say a trail cam in Honduras spotted a rare wild cat—a “cloud jaguar.” The animal was roaming in the Sierra del Merendón mountain range when the camera trap captured photos and video footage back in February.

Panthera shared the images and footage with CNN. CNN explains that the cloud jaguar was a lone male traveling “about 2,200 meters up in high-altitude forest.” Conservationists see the rare sighting as a positive sign for these animals and for Honduras as a whole.
