A bear ended up high in a tree in an Albany, New York neighborhood, drawing attention from both neighbors and wildlife officials. The officials decided the safest way to remove the bear would be to tranquilize it and relocate it back into the wilderness. But that process wasn’t without a little bit of drama.
Briana Hope Supardi, a local journalist, shared footage of the moment the tranquilized bear fell from the tree into a net several people were holding below. The bear was so heavy, the net didn’t do much. But, thankfully, the humans had planned for this and softened the ground with several large crash pads.

“Tense moments in the streets of Albany . . . A bear falls out of a tree after being tranquillized,” wrote Supardi in her Instagram post. “Safety padding was set up to soften the blow.”
Later, Supardi shared an update on the bear, saying that wildlife officials had safely relocated the bear by releasing it into the nearby Catskills Mountains.
