2026 Thor Sanctuary 19P review: compact AWD, tight wet bath

Summary: The 2026 Thor Motor Coach Sanctuary 19P puts an AWD Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, a fold-out rear bed and a lithium power system into a van under 20 feet long. Its easy-to-park size is the draw; the wet bath, bed conversion, payload verification and conflicting official dimensions deserve careful checking.

Research disclosure: This is a desk-researched buyer guide, not a road test. RVCamping.info did not drive, inspect, weigh, rent, sleep in, purchase or otherwise test this motorhome.

Why this review replaced the requested Boldt

The requested 2026 Winnebago Boldt 70BL could not clear the exact-year identity gate. Winnebago's current 70BL page is marked as dealer-stock-only, and its retained page data points to a 2023 brochure while describing an older 3.0-liter V6/4WD configuration.[1] Winnebago's official 2026 operator-manual index does not list the Boldt family.[2] Those two official pages establish that a Boldt 70BL existed, but not that the specifications shown belong to a documented 2026 coach.

The Sanctuary family does not appear in the RVCamping.info RV-review manifest during the preceding 365 days. Thor's year-specific 2026 camper-van announcement names Sanctuary, and the manufacturer-produced 2026 brochure identifies the 19P floorplan.[3][4] The replacement is therefore the 2026 Thor Motor Coach Sanctuary 19P.

Bottom line

The Sanctuary 19P fits a solo traveler or couple who wants AWD, a sub-20-foot footprint and a rear lounge that can carry passengers before converting to a broad bed. The 2026 brochure lists a 9,050-pound GVWR, 19 gallons of fresh water, a cassette toilet and a 5,000-pound hitch rating.[4] Thor also made off-road tires, a 30-amp solar charger and a Starlink exterior connection part of its 2026 update story.[3]

The compromise is space. The rear lounge is the bed, the center aisle is narrow, and the enclosed wet bath is small enough that a buyer should physically test it before committing. A large battery and AWD do not answer payload, cold-weather, ground-clearance or service-access questions. Those depend on the exact completed van.

Best fit: one or two travelers who value short length, AWD traction, an enclosed toilet/shower, lithium power and a convertible social lounge.

Skip it: anyone wanting a permanent bed, a roomy shower, abundant interior gear storage, four-season certification, or enough published weight data to buy without an exact-unit scale ticket.

Official 2026 specifications and conflicts

Thor's 2026 brochure is the year-specific baseline. The live 19P page is useful for current equipment detail, but it is a rolling page and conflicts with the brochure on dimensions.[4][5]

Conflicts to settle before paying a deposit

Length, width and height: the 2026 brochure says 19 feet 8 inches long, 92.3 inches wide and 10 feet 6 inches high. Thor's rolling 19P page says 19 feet 9 inches, 6 feet 8 inches wide and 9 feet 10 inches high.[4][5] That is too large a clearance difference to wave away. Measure the actual van at travel height and width, including awning, mirrors, tires, roof equipment and any rack.

Battery vocabulary: the brochure calls the battery “6,210-watt,” while the rolling page uses 460Ah.[4][5] These may describe energy and charge capacity imperfectly rather than different systems, but neither wording states usable energy at a defined voltage. Ask for the battery model, nominal and usable watt-hours, inverter continuous/surge limits, cold-charge protection, alternator output and warranty.

Bed size: Thor's 2026 brochure drawing shows 73 by 70 inches. Older independent coverage discussed a 70-by-72-inch arrangement, and used listings may repeat that older figure.[4][7] Treat the cushions, hinge layout and support structure in the exact 2026 unit as controlling.

Price: the 2026 brochure does not publish an MSRP. RVUSA's 2026 guide labels $216,860 as MSRP, while sampled dealers label $214,865 and $220,626 as MSRP.[10][11][20]

Thor's current family page is now for 2027 and shows a different 19P MSRP, so it is not evidence of the 2026 launch price.[6] Require the original 2026 factory window sticker and do not treat a dealer's “retail,” “list” or crossed-out number as an official national MSRP.

Coach year versus chassis year

Thor's own 2026 brochure warns that the chassis and components may have been manufactured in a calendar year before the completed vehicle's designated model year.[4] A “2026 Sanctuary” is the coach model year. Decode the VIN, read the Mercedes data card and completed-vehicle label, and record the chassis year, Thor serial number, production date and separate warranty start dates. The General RV sample carries VIN W1X4NBVY1ST208306; that identifier belongs to that listing only.[10]

Floorplan and daily-use analysis

Seating, sleeping and movement

The 19P's rear zone works as opposing seating by day and a transverse fold-out bed by night. This is more social than a fixed platform bed and preserves a central loading aisle while the bed is raised. It also means bedding must be stored, cushions and hinges must align, and the bed must be deployed each evening. Build it at the dealer. Lie on both sides. Check whether one sleeper can use the bathroom or exit without waking the other.

Thor lists two sleepers, but the rear area includes passenger belts in selected positions.[4] Belt count does not prove a seating position is appropriate for a child restraint or comfortable on a long trip. Verify the completed label, belt geometry, head restraints and child-seat instructions with the manufacturers before carrying passengers.

The sub-20-foot body should be easier to park than a 170-inch-wheelbase Sprinter. It is still tall and wide. A buyer should practice the turning circle, camera view, rear-door clearance, hitch step, awning sweep and lane position. AWD improves traction; the brochure does not publish approach, departure, breakover or minimum ground-clearance figures.[4]

Wet bath, galley and storage

The center wet bath contains the shower and cassette toilet behind an enclosure. StressLess Camping's 2023 review considered the room exceptionally tight and criticized how cabinetry intruded into it.[7] That observation concerns an earlier unit, not proof that every 2026 bath is identical. It is still a good reason to sit, stand, turn, simulate showering and reach the vent, controls and cassette service door before purchase.

The kitchen has a 12-volt refrigerator, microwave, sink and portable induction burner.[4] A removable burner frees counter space and can be used only where its cord, ventilation and weather permit. Open every drawer with the table installed and with someone standing in the aisle. Confirm that refrigerator ventilation, door swing and latches work on a slope.

Nineteen gallons of fresh water limits indoor showering. The cassette is easier to carry to an approved disposal point than a full black tank is to move, but it also fills quickly and must be removed through an exterior hatch. Ask both travelers to perform a dry run with the cassette, cap and storage path.

Power, climate and payload

The lithium bank, 3,000-watt inverter, alternator charging and 200 watts of solar can support quiet off-grid electrical use, but no brochure figure proves a full night of air conditioning under a specific temperature and humidity.[3][4] Request a load test at the battery state of charge you expect to use. Record A/C draw, inverter temperature, low-voltage cutoff and recharge time from the alternator and shore power.

Heat pads and a diesel furnace are useful cold-weather equipment, not proof of four-season capability.[4] Inspect water lines, drains, cassette compartment and exterior shower for exposure. Ask Thor in writing for minimum operating and storage temperatures and winterization steps.

Thor publishes GVWR but no 19P curb weight or occupant-and-cargo number in the brochure.[4] The yellow cargo label on the exact van is essential. Subtract people, water, food, batteries, racks, bikes, hitch load and every option, then weigh each axle loaded for travel. A 5,000-pound hitch receiver does not guarantee 5,000 pounds of real towing capacity once the van is loaded.

What independent reviewers and owners report

Independent evidence is mostly from earlier 19P model years, so it informs the inspection plan rather than proving 2026 reliability.

  • StressLess Camping liked the Sprinter concept but found the aisle, kitchen arrangement and wet bath cramped. The review also noted that the rear bed consumes the lounge when deployed.[7]
  • A Thor Forums thread collected owner reports about screen installation, bed hinges, water leaks, electrical breakers and loose interior parts. One owner also said not every unit had every problem.[8] These are anecdotes from earlier builds, not a defect rate.
  • RV Insider carries two sharply negative earlier-owner reports. One describes charging-system, alternator, plumbing, toilet, cabinet and bed-comfort problems; another describes missing or broken delivery items and poor support.[9] The small, self-selected sample cannot establish how common those problems are.

The pattern is useful: demand a long powered pre-delivery inspection rather than assuming a premium sticker produces an error-free van. The NHTSA model-year query returned zero results for 2026 Thor Motor Coach Sanctuary at 2026-10-11 00:04 UTC.[15] A zero model query is not VIN clearance, especially when the chassis and coach have separate manufacturers. Run the exact VIN through NHTSA, Thor and Mercedes-Benz on inspection day.

New purchase path, price wording and exclusions

Thor's year-specific brochure confirms the model but prints no 2026 MSRP.[4] RVUSA records $216,860 as the 2026 19P MSRP; because RVUSA is not Thor, this article treats that as a secondary reference rather than an official price.[20]

At 2026-10-11 00:04 UTC, General RV's Huntley listing showed stock 321603 as sold, with a final displayed ask of $119,995 and “MSRP $214,865.”[10] Mike Thompson's Colton listing showed stock SY26012, VIN W1X4NBVY6ST229202, at $144,998 with “List Price $220,626.”[11] The difference in dealer MSRP/list figures is another reason to demand the original factory window sticker.

Advertised prices may exclude or condition freight, dealer preparation, documentation, tax, title, registration, delivery, finance incentives, trade allowances, protection products, batteries, accessories or state fees. The selling dealer must itemize the out-the-door total in writing. Ask whether the price requires dealer financing, a trade, membership, residency or same-day purchase.

Purchase paths: use Thor's dealer/inventory tools, compare identifiable VINs at more than one dealer, request the factory build sheet and window sticker, and make the deposit refundable pending document review, an independent RV inspection, a Mercedes scan, a loaded scale ticket and a satisfactory systems demonstration.[5][10][11]

Used-market snapshot

These were asking prices observed at 2026-10-11 00:04 UTC. They are not sale prices, appraisals or a market value. Two pages were live; one General RV page was retained as a recently sold listing, which is labeled accordingly.

The sample spans three dealer marketplaces but only one model year. It says nothing about transaction prices, condition, options, chassis service or regional demand. The median or average would create false precision, so none is calculated.

Model-specific used-unit inspection checklist

  1. Match the VIN, title, Mercedes data card, Thor serial/build sheet, completed-vehicle label and advertised 19P configuration.
  2. Record coach year and chassis year separately, plus Thor, Mercedes and component warranty start dates.
  3. Compare the factory window sticker with installed equipment; reconcile every “MSRP,” list-price and option claim.
  4. Read the yellow occupant-and-cargo label, then weigh the travel-loaded van by axle against GVWR, GCWR, GAWR and tire ratings.
  5. Measure travel height, width and length because the brochure and rolling page conflict.[4][5]
  6. Photograph the lithium battery label; document nominal/usable watt-hours, cycle count, firmware, faults and cold-charge behavior.
  7. Test shore charging, solar input, auxiliary-alternator charging, transfer switching and battery disconnects.
  8. Run the A/C, microwave and induction burner under controlled loads; record voltage sag, inverter heat and shutdown behavior.
  9. Operate every Rapid Camp+ screen function and verify manual overrides for lights, pump, heat and awning.
  10. Deploy and stow the electric rear bed repeatedly. Inspect hinges, wiring, supports, cushion gaps, rattles and emergency manual operation.
  11. Check bed dimensions against the 73-by-70-inch brochure drawing and test comfort with both sleepers.[4]
  12. Fill, pressurize and drain the water system. Inspect pump cycling, fittings, tank sensors, low-point drains and exterior sprayer.
  13. Shower-test the wet bath. Check enclosure seals, vent, drain speed, cabinet splash exposure and water migration into the aisle.
  14. Remove, fill and reinstall the cassette toilet. Inspect seals, venting, level indication, access hatch and travel latch.
  15. Cold-start the Truma diesel/electric heat and hot-water system; inspect exhaust, fault history and service access.
  16. Moisture-meter the roof, windows, floor perimeter, wet bath, rear doors, awning mounts and every exterior penetration.
  17. Inspect the 200-watt solar panel, mounts, cable entry and controller; verify any recall or service-campaign completion.
  18. Cycle the side and rear screens, windows, cabinet latches, drawers and doors on level ground and a modest slope.
  19. Inspect underbody tanks, heat-pad wiring, drains, steps, exhaust and vulnerable plumbing before accepting “off-road” language.
  20. Check AWD driveline, brakes, steering, tires, alignment, diesel emissions equipment and all Mercedes fault modules with a qualified shop.
  21. Test the hitch, seven-pin connector and tongue-load plan against actual loaded axle and combined weights.
  22. Run the exact VIN through NHTSA, Thor and Mercedes recall tools on inspection day; keep completion receipts.[15]
  23. Confirm local service options for both the Mercedes chassis and Thor coach before purchase.
  24. Make the sale contingent on clean title/lien checks, service records, manuals, keys, remotes and an independent inspection.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • Winnebago Revel 44E: another short AWD Sprinter, but with a lift bed and rear gear garage instead of a rear lounge.[17]
  • Jayco Terrain 19Y: short AWD Sprinter with a lift bed; compare service network, power architecture and exact-unit payload.[18]
  • Storyteller Overland Classic MODE OG: flexible lounge/bed and large gear area, but a portable-bath compromise rather than the Sanctuary's enclosed wet bath.[19]

Methodology, limitations and disclosures

This review uses Thor's 2026 model-change announcement and manufacturer-produced model-year brochure as the identity baseline. The rolling 19P page supplies current equipment detail but is not silently treated as a 2026 source where it conflicts. Market evidence was captured at the stated UTC time.

No exact 2026 Sanctuary 19P photograph with an explicit license permitting commercial editorial reuse was found. The exact-phrase Wikimedia Commons search did not return a verified exact-model asset.[16] The package therefore uses an original 1600-by-900 non-photorealistic buyer-check diagram. It is not a product photograph or exact floorplan rendering and uses no manufacturer, dealer, marketplace, logo, thumbnail or video-frame assets.

RVCamping.info did not contact Thor, Mercedes-Benz, dealers, reviewers or owners. It did not inspect a VIN, title, build sheet, certification label, scale ticket, battery report or recall completion record. Independent reports concern earlier years. The official dimension conflict, usable battery energy, exact 2026 factory MSRP, unit-specific payload and measured clearances remain unresolved.

No video is embedded. Dealer walkthroughs were found, but none was needed to support the conclusions, and no video frame or thumbnail was reused.
