On March 7, strong gusts of wind kept threatening to blow bald eagle parents Jackie and Shadow out of their nest. Footage from the nest cam, which livestreams the internet-famous eagles’ every move to their adoring public, shows one of the eagles (most people say it’s the father, Shadow) hanging on for dear life.

Jackie and Shadow live in Big Bear Valley, California, and they’re currently caring for two eggs. The non-profit organization Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV) operates the nest cams and frequently shares updates about the pair and the offspring they raise.
In the video, you can see the eagle hunker down as wind blasts the nest, shaking the massive tree the nest is in. It’s incredible to see the eagle’s devotion to its unborn babies play out in real time.
