Wild Turkey Causes Traffic Jam At A Crosswalk In N.Y.C.

Traffic jams in N.Y.C are nothing new, although they are usually caused by careless drivers. However, in this case, this particular traffic jam was caused by a unique pedestrian. A wild turkey was caught using the crosswalk and decided to stop a bus while he was there. His leisurely pace and no-care-in-the-world attitude ended up halting all traffic nearby. Wild Turkey Causes Hilarious Traffic Jam

According to People Magazie “wild turkeys have been part of Staten Island’s landscape for decades.” Although people are accustomed to seeing these animals out and about, I doubt anyone was expecting one to halt traffic on their daily transit. Nevertheless, one wild turkey decided that a N.Y.C. bus could wait for him as he crossed the road.

This bold bird decided to hop onto the crosswalk and position itself directly in front of a New York City MTA bus. Luckily for this turkey, the bus driver was paying attention and halted his approach. However, the turkey did not rush across the crosswalk. On the contrary, he moved as if he didn’t have a care in the world. SILive shared that the wild turkey traffic jam occurred on “Wednesday, Feb. 19, near the corner of Victory Boulevard and Forest Avenue.”

The bus came to a complete stop to allow the turkey to cross, but the bird was much more interested in one of its bumper stickers. Ironically, the outlet shares that the sticker that caught his eye was a bumper sticker “advertising the Museum of Sex in Manhattan.” Perhaps he is planning his next vacation?

With his curiosity came a lack of desire to speed up the process. His leisurely pace and general lack of care led this wild turkey to cause a temporary traffic jam.
