Over 2.3 million people viewed a nest-cam clip from Explore.org, showing an eaglet named Ryder falling from its nest on Santa Cruz Island in California’s Channel Islands National Park. The eaglet survived the fall, and wildlife officials were able to successfully return the baby bald eagle to its nest and family.
The scary moment happened late last week. In the nest-cam clip, you can see Ryder the eaglet scooch closer and closer to the edge before falling off screen. Explore.org shared the clip on social media, stating that a rescue attempt was already underway.

In a second post, Explore.org shared footage of a person from the Institute for Wildlife Studies, an environmental conservation organization, placing Ryder back in the nest.
“Three cheers for the @instituteforwildlifestudies team!” wrote Explore.org in the follow-up post. “Ryder is okay, and he’s safe with his family!”
