Bear Breaks Into Cars Outside Airbnb, Hilarity Ensues (Video)

Jeff Lin and his friends recently enjoyed a ski weekend in Tahoe, California, but perhaps the most memorable moment came when a bear prevented them from checking out of their Airbnb. The large black bear was breaking into the visitors’ vehicles and raiding their snacks.

The group (and the group next door) tried several things to try to scare the bear off, including shouting and setting off the cars’ alarms, but the bear really wanted some free food. It ate its fill before heading off, possibly to cause some more mischief elsewhere.

“Meet Snickerdoodle. The most experienced food burglar in Tahoe,” wrote Lin in his Instagram post sharing the video. “We were packing up our airbnb after a ski weekend and this absolute unit of a bear just . . . quietly pads up and helps himself to our cookie mix from the back of our car.”

These vacationers learned the hard way so others don’t have to. Always leave vehicle doors and home doors locked in bear country. Secure your food and trash, and never feed bears intentionally.
