I assume that wildlife rescuers get all sorts of interesting calls. Afterall, there is definitely never a dull day on that job. However, this one call must have brought an extra smile to the rescuers’ lips, particularly if they are fans of the show Friends. Rescuers responded to the scene after a Missouri homeowner found a monkey trespassing in their garage.

People Magazine shared details about the humorous encounter. The outlet shared that the wildlife rescuer was surprised when he arrived at the scene. Apparently, calls about trespassing monkeys are common, but they typically turn out to be a different animal. This time, however, it was indeed a monkey inside the garage.
KSDK shared that “a woman in Jefferson County, just outside St. Louis, discovered a capuchin monkey hanging out inside her garage.” Naturally, upon her discovery, she called for assistance. When calling in the situation, the Missouri homeowner made sure to provide some key details.
“It looks like the one from Friends, I am not kidding you,” the homeowner told the emergency dispatcher. People Magazine shared that the emergency dispatcher routed the call to an Imperial-based Wildlife Command Center for assistance.
A Rescue For The Books
Rescue owner Michael Beran told the outlet that he did not believe the call at first. “Look, I get calls about monkeys all the time,” he shared. However, like previously stated, those “monkeys” usually turn out to be something else entirely.
So imagine Beran’s surprise when he entered the Missouri homeowner’s garage and came face-to-face with a capuchin monkey. His surprise at seeing the animal only escalated when the poor thing got spooked and jumped onto the homeowner. Naturally, they panicked.
Luckily, Beran was able to get a handle on the situation quickly after. “It was easy for me to get my hands on the monkey,” he later explained. “You just kind of control them in a way they don’t feel threatened, and I was able to get it into a carrier safely.”
Fortunately for the capuchin, their owner filed a missing primate report, and rescuers were able to quickly connect the dots. Soon afterward, the monkey was reunited with its owner.
