A 1,000-foot hill on the North Island of New Zealand has a very unique name. Its name is Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu, and that’s the longest place name in any English-speaking country (and possibly the whole world).
Scarlett Skinner recently posted a delightful video showing her dancing behind the Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu sign along to a song citing the lengthy name. While on holiday in New Zealand, Skinner says she and her boyfriend drove four hours just to visit this place, which is called “Taumata” for short.

The full 85-character name describes a famed Māori explorer. It translates to: “the summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the slider, climber of mountains, the land-swallower who travelled about, played his nose flute to his loved one.”
“What an unserious way to spend an afternoon in New Zealand,” Skinner joked in her Instagram post sharing the funny video.
