2022 Pleasure-Way REKON 4x4 used buyer’s guide: garage space, portable gray tanks
Research-based 2022 Pleasure-Way REKON 4x4 guide covering official specification conflicts, used asking prices, recall checks, portable gray tanks, and inspection priorities.
2022 Pleasure-Way REKON 4x4 used buyer’s guide: garage space, portable gray tanks
The REKON’s large garage and interior water capacity are useful, but a used buyer must accept portable gray handling and verify lithium, bed, recall and modification history.

Review identity and method
Pleasure-Way Industries built this 2022 REKON 4x4 as a single-layout Class B adventure van. Underneath is a 144-inch-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 4x4 with the 3.0-liter V6 diesel and seven-speed automatic.[2]
RESEARCH-ONLY REVIEW — NOT A HANDS-ON TEST. RVCamping.info did not drive, inspect, weigh, rent, own, buy, sleep in or test a REKON. Pleasure-Way’s official archives document the REKON for 2022, not 2026, so this guide does not invent a newer model year.[1][3]
Verdict: an adventure van with chores attached
The REKON’s strongest idea is the rear garage. Two longitudinal Murphy-bed panels make a 70-by-72-inch bed, while Pleasure-Way claims 124 cubic feet of garage space with the bed raised and 52 cubic feet with it deployed.[2] A 40-gallon interior fresh tank and 400Ah lithium bank support extended stops without forcing critical equipment under the chassis.[2][4]
The tradeoff is a less conventional daily routine. The refrigerator and induction burner are portable, the wet bath doubles as gear storage, and gray water moves into exterior portable containers rather than a fixed tank.[2][4][7] It best fits two travelers who value water and cargo more than a permanent galley, easy bed height or fixed gray plumbing.
Official specifications need the exact unit
The brochure and manual agree on a 9,050-pound GVWR, 13,930-pound GCWR, 144-inch wheelbase, 40 gallons fresh, 400Ah lithium, 400 watts of solar, a 2,000-watt inverter and 30-amp shore power.[2][4] The brochure’s representative 1,650-pound occupant-and-cargo figure still yields to the yellow label on the actual van.
Official documents disagree on several details. Length is 19 feet 5 inches in the brochure and 19 feet 7 inches in the manual; cassette capacity is 5 gallons versus 4.75 gallons; towing is advertised at 5,000 pounds while the manual calculates 4,880 pounds at full GVWR.[2][4] Measure, read installed-component labels and calculate with loaded axle weights instead of choosing the more attractive number.
The water and weight arithmetic
A full 40-gallon fresh tank weighs roughly 334 pounds, using the manual’s own water calculation.[4] Subtract people, accessories, cargo, modifications and trailer tongue weight from the exact unit’s capacity. The REKON’s brochure number is not permission to load the garage by volume.
Inspect both portable gray containers, their Y-hose, caps and storage. Fill-test them and run the sink and shower into each.[4][7] Portable tanks preserve clearance but add handling and legal-disposal work. A missing container or improvised fitting materially changes the ownership experience.
What renters, reviewers and an owner report
Renters repeatedly described easy driving and generous under-bed storage. One also found the bed high enough to need a step for a shorter traveler, and another noted that the rented build lacked coach air conditioning.[6] Those reports apply to particular rental units, not every REKON.
RVTravel praised the water capacity, garage and movable appliances while noting limited fixed food-prep space and the external gray-water workflow.[7] Forum participants raised similar fit questions about the galley, wet-bath/closet conflict and portable waste handling.[8] A named owner reported strong off-grid use alongside cargo-net, vent-cover, screen-magnet and bathroom-door issues; Pleasure-Way hosts that account, so it is attributed rather than treated as independent proof.[9]
New purchase history and used-market snapshot
The launch price published by Pleasure-Way was $171,600 in the United States at launch. The source does not enumerate freight, dealer, tax, title, registration or option exclusions.[5] There is no verified new 2026 REKON or current factory order path; this is a used-model guide.
PRICE SNAPSHOT: October 25, 2026 UTC. Three observed asks were $112,999 at 19,145 miles, $107,500 at 66,000 miles and $109,000 at 7,100 miles.[10][11][12] Another listing asked $113,488 with mileage not exposed in the retrieved result, while one RV Trader result showed $115,366.[13][14] These are asking prices, not sale prices, appraisals or out-the-door totals. Modifications and syndication can make superficially similar listings incomparable.
Inspect the systems that make the REKON different
Match the chassis VIN, Pleasure-Way serial/build label, title, window sticker and coach certification label; a coach model year can differ from the Sprinter chassis year. Weigh the travel-ready van by axle and measure actual roof height with every installed accessory.[2][4]
Load-test all four lithium batteries; verify solar, shore, alternator/DC-to-DC and inverter operation; boot both touchscreens and look for offline modules. Cycle both Murphy-bed halves and inspect hinges, latches and supports. Fill and pressure-test the interior water system, Truma heat and hot water, cassette toilet and portable gray path.[2][4] Moisture-meter every roof, window, awning and utility penetration.
Recall, chassis and modification checks
NHTSA campaign 22V-616 includes certain 2021–2022 Pleasure-Way motorhomes, including REKONs, for a DCF4 board labeling and fuse-holder issue that could contribute to overheating.[15] Remedy instructions place the REKON board inside the right rear cabinet, after its access panels are removed.[16] Run the exact VIN through NHTSA’s lookup and obtain repair records; the campaign’s total population covers several Pleasure-Way models.[17]
Have a Sprinter technician inspect 4x4 driveline, emissions systems, suspension, brakes, tires and underbody damage. Treat lifts, larger fuel tanks, carriers, wheels and suspension kits as separate engineering, payload, insurance and service-history questions. A high asking price does not turn an undocumented modification into an upgrade.
Alternatives, video and image rights
A current Winnebago Revel is the direct new-vehicle alternative for a factory-supported AWD Sprinter with a power-lift bed and fixed gray tank. Storyteller MODE models suit buyers needing more belted seats or a different bathroom solution. Another used REKON with fewer modifications and better records may be the strongest comparison.
