Footage from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, shows a young black bear sniffing around a covered porch area before being confronted by a dad who didn’t feel like replacing his Deuter child carrier for hiking. The dad, Mitch Bellrichard, approaches the bear, banging a chair and shouting to try to scare the bear away. Thankfully, it works, because those things are expensive.

“This young bear was trying to run off with the baby carrier pack from our porch in Gatlinburg,” Bellrichard wrote in his Instagram post. “I’ve used this pack for 3 kids now I didn’t want to have to buy a new one now.”
