A group of Mississippi hunters broke the state record for catching the longest alligator, according to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
The male alligator measured in at 14 feet and 3 inches and weighed 802.5 pounds. It breaks the previous record set in February by about two inches.
For comparison, the average length of a male alligator is 11.2 feet, and while weight varies, they can weigh nearly 1,000 pounds. The average small SUV measures 14 feet and 4 inches.
The biggest alligator on record was caught in Florida. It weighed 19 feet, 2 inches and weighed 1,043 pounds.
