A group of hikers visiting Alaska had a close encounter with a grizzly bear on a narrow trail. The group was able to stay calm, and the bear passed by without incident. The hikers spoke loudly, repeating “hey bear, hey bear,” and they backed up as much as they could to let the bear pass by.

Michelle Thaller captured footage from the incident and shared it on Instagram.
“We just kept talking, got out of its way and let it go by,” she wrote in her post.
It’s not clear whether any of the hikers had bear spray.
