It is never a dull day in the life of an animal rescuer. Regardless of the type of wildlife you save, it is always thrilling when you help rescue an animal from an unfortunate fate. Perhaps that is why this rescuer did not hesitate when they got the call about an exhausted wild animal clinging to the edge of the pool. Find out what animal it was.
Exhausted Animal Clings To The Edge Of The Pool Trying To Survive

CJ is the president of Townsville Bat Rescue Australia. As the president of a bat rescue, I am sure the rescuer is no stranger to finding bats in all sorts of predicaments. The Dodo shared the most recent rescue that CJ encountered.
The outlet shared that CJ received the call about an Australian black flying fox. The poor animal was trapped, clinging to the edge of a pool, trying not to drown. After arriving in the area, CJ spotted the animal struggling in the suburban pool.
The wildlife rescuer told the outlet that it is not uncommon for bats to swoop down and drink from rivers. Occasionally, bats mistake pools for rivers. That is an issue because after they dive down for a drink, they “fall in and get stuck, unable to grip the pool’s slippery rim.”
While rescuing the bat, CJ could tell that the poor thing was exhausted. CJ stated, “The girl had struggled for quite a while and was exhausted.”
Watch The Rescue Unfold
This touching video shared by Townsville Bat Rescue shows CJ saving this bat’s life. In the video, you can see that the poor animal is clinging to the edge of the pool, barely hanging on. She looked as if she had been sleeping and had given up on her chances of survival.
That is when CJ came in and gently woke her before wrapping her in a towel. The animal was spooked and made some alarmed sounds, but gratefully clung to the cloth that was quickly becoming her salvation. CJ successfully managed to pull the bat from the pool, but in its frightened state, it almost tumbled back in.
Luckily, CJ reacted quickly. “Don’t go back in there,” she chided as she grabbed hold of the animal. She gently carried the animal over to a carrier with towels, and the bat finally settled in.
